Issue Four

On the Authority of Ai’shah (Radhiallaahu Anha) who said Allaah’s Messenger (Sallaahu Alayhee Wasallam) said, “Whoever died and he ought to have fasted (the missed days of Ramadan) then his family/guardians must fast on his behalf.” (Saheeh al-Bukhaari 1/262 no.1147, Saheeh Muslim 1/362 no.1952.)

Hanafee Fiqh

“Whoever died and he had upon him compensation for missed fasts of ramadhan and he mentions this as part of his will (ie something needs to be done about the missed fasts) his family or guardians should feed the poor every day (of the fasts he missed)  half a sa’a (approximately 1.5-2.5kg) of either, wheat, dates or barley but HIS FAMILY OR GUARDIANS CANNOT FAST ON HIS BEHALF)” (Hidaayah Akharain 1/222-223)
